King James

And the Cleveland Cavs are taking on the Boston Celtics in game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semi-finals.  I’m a diehard Cavs fan, but I think it will take a small miracle for them to win this series.  They can take care of business at the Q, that I’m not worried about.  The problem is that Boston has home court advantage, and they appear to be damn near unbeatable at home.  The Cavs were blown out in the first two games of the series at the Garden, and the Hawks didn’t win a single game there in the opening round.  If the Cavs lose tonight the series is over, there is just no way that they can go into Boston and win two.  If the Cavs are going to pull off the upset of the Celtics, they are going to need to do the following:

1.  King James is going to have to drastically reduce his turnovers from where they were at in the first half of the series.  Cleveland can’t win if he turns the ball over 10-14 times in a game.

2.  They will need better ball movement and shot selection.  They tend to take hurried shots at ill advised times.  Pass the ball and take smarter shots.

3.  Dominate the offensive glass.  They are traditionally a good offensive rebounding team.  They need second chance points, especially if their outside shooting continues to suffer.

4.  Lebron needs to take the ball to the damn rack.  He is a runaway freight train, and it is so frustrating to see him push the ball up the floor and pull up for a long range jumper.  Take it to the hole and finish.  If he takes it to the rim and doesn’t finish, he gets the other team into foul trouble.  More times than not, he finishes AND draws the foul.

5.  Keep Sasha Pavlovich and more importantly, Damon Jones, out of the damn game.  Sasha plays defense like old people fuck, not very often and when they do its uncomfortable and awkward.  Damon Jones and his stupid gremlin haircut should just stay on the bench.  Just don’t get him wet or feed him after midnight.

6.  Bring back Mark Price.  I know he is busy coaching women’s high school basketball somewhere in middle America, but he is probably still a more accurate shooter than Wally ‘Shoot Till I Make One’ Szczerbiak.

My point is, Cleveland MUST win at home.  Then all they need to do is steal one on the road, and they are on their way to the Eastern Conference Finals.  Easier said than done.

Next post I will talk about the Penguins series with the Flyers, and review some Penn State football recruiting news.
